Yesterday, I came across Normark, a landscaping company here in Melbourne. Their story is not only interesting but also inspiring and worth sharing.
It was founded by two brothers, Dean Norman and Mark Anderson, in 1977. Mark was known for his strong can-do attitude and knack for learning new skills easily. Dean, known for his determination and selling skills, was in charge of the office and implemented systems to facilitate their early growth.
Three years later, they hired their first employee, Robert Eadie. Four years after that, they made their first major equipment purchase—a skid steer loader. Seven years later, they reached five employees. Two years after that, they won the Landscape of the Year award for Bellevue State.
Mark retired in 2004 after 27 years of service, and Dean retired in 2012 after 35 years of service.
They reached 25 employees in 2008, 50 employees in 2017, and today, 47 years later, they have close to 90 employees across multiple teams, who are leaders in residential and commercial landscaping, as well as pool installation.
They’re a great example of hard work and determination but, most importantly, steady growth.
