The system rushes us and we get absorbed by it. We get busy with work, then distracted with unimportant things and completely forget that everything gets better when we serve, when we help when we volunteer and connect with our community.
To serve and create valuable things for others, though, we need to build empathy, continuously. We need to interact, learn, and repeat.
But sometimes we feel there’s no time for it. We’re not used to that connection work anymore. We don’t take the time to get out there for others.
It becomes more important when we run a business. Why? Because we need to innovate and evolve. Our customers evolve, therefore, our empathy for them needs to match that evolution. And the only way to catch up is to use our interactions to adapt and grow with them.
Our work is more than our daily activities to run our operations. It’s also taking the time to build that empathy to serve our people better and create stronger connections.
Let’s do our work, maybe get distracted just a bit, and create the conditions that allow us to build that empathy we all need.
