Help Their Actions Catch Up

Most people already hold values that align with positive change – compassion, health, sustainability, and fairness. Their actions just haven’t caught up with these values yet.

The gap isn’t usually in their core beliefs. It’s in their awareness of how current choices misalign with what they already believe or how to bridge that gap.

When someone says “I always cared about animals” or “I always wanted to be healthier,” they’re not making excuses. They’re recognizing how their new choices better reflect their values.

Most of the time our job isn’t to challenge their past but to show how their values might naturally lead to better choices. To help them see how change is an expression of who they’ve always been.

Perhaps lasting change comes more easily when it feels like alignment rather than contradiction, like becoming more ourselves rather than becoming someone else.
