Do the projects we create for the animals have a due date?
When we’re working to create change that matters, is there ever really a finish line?
The animals can’t wait. The planet can’t wait. The need for change is urgent. And yet our work has no end date.
This might create a particular tension. We must act with urgency while building for the very long term. Move quickly while being patient enough to act, learn, act again, and try to do things right.
We act without being sure things will have the results we hope, often without seeing significant progress for a long time. But we must keep planting the seeds, even though we’ll see the forest in 30 years or not be able to see it at all.
Our real due date is “as soon as possible” and “forever.”
