We’re All Hypocrites

…to some degree.

None of us live perfectly aligned with our values.

However, as part of a functioning, kind and compassionate society, we must draw lines – clear boundaries about what we will and won’t do. Not because we’re perfect, but because boundaries help create the change we seek.

These lines aren’t about moral superiority. They’re about creating conditions for a healthier society and environment. About making choices that consider the welfare of others – human and non-human alike, without selfishly putting our emotions above all.

Very often though, the pursuit of perfect alignment between beliefs and actions can become paralyzing. We feel we can’t act until we’re living without contradiction. So we prefer not to take action.

But it is possible to make progress while acknowledging our contradictions and continuing to grow.

We need more conscious hypocritical actors instead of more searching-for-perfect, but still hypocritical, observers.
