Walk a Dog

A great example of a generous and elegant strategy from this interview with Seth Godin.

“If you love dogs, go put five flyers in five mailboxes… ‘I walk dogs every afternoon for free. Give me a call if you’re interested.’ If no one calls, no one knows it was you. You have lost nothing. If someone calls, now you have a new dog to walk with and maybe you’re going to get to know your neighbour because you did something useful for them. And the woman in my neighbourhood who walks dogs, walks twenty dogs a day and she has people who rooting for her because she is of service.”

This is about a simple offer to help, creating real value before asking for anything in return.

When we remove the risk for others and focus on being useful first, we create the conditions for trust and growth to emerge naturally.

What seeds can we plant today?

What service can we offer that someone will find valuable?
